Unsecured Storage Server Exposes Sensitive Data
GOVERNMENT SECTOR

A US government department which deals with securities cases and investigation exposed an estimated 3TB of data that included personally identifiable information, email exchanges and FBI investigation records. The Oklahoma Department of Securities (ODS) accidentally left its archival storage exposed to the public after a firewall installation. The exposed database can be found through Shodan search engine from 30 November to 7 December 2018. Investigation is ongoing to determine the type and number of data files that may have been exposed and who may have accessed them.
