Unknown Attackers Published German Politicians’ Personal Data On Twitter
GOVERNMENT SECTOR

Unknown attackers had been publishing stolen personal data from approximately 1,000 German politicians, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, on Twitter since December. The stolen data included home addresses, mobile phone numbers, letters, invoices, and copies of identity documents. It is unclear whether the politicians were targeted by hackers or the victims of an internal data leak. The attackers also exposed the private data of celebrities and journalists. The Twitter account ‘0rbit’, which was used to publish the stolen data, has been suspended. German police have searched the flat of a 19-year-old man who said on Twitter he had been in touch with ‘0rbit’.
