Hong Kong Credit Bureau Apologises Amid Data Leak Fear

The Hong Kong credit bureau of Chicago-based TransUnion apologised after it discovered that unauthorised individuals could access mortgage information on its website. However, TransUnion refused to admit that any data leak had happened. It said it has suspended the online search function and is improving security measures. The apology came after a local journalist successfully obtained the TransUnion credit reports for Chief Executive Carrie Lam and Financial Secretary Paul Chan in November by entering their personal details, which could be found online.
