3 Million Customer Data Stolen in Automotive Maker Breach
TRANSPORT INDUSTRY

Toyota Motor Corp. suffered a second data breach in five weeks when hackers accessed a network server containing the information of some three million customers. The database, which holds information such as names and dates-of-birth, belongs to eight sales subsidiaries based in Tokyo, Japan. Investigation is ongoing to determine if the information has been taken out of the organisation. It is unknown if the latest incident relates to the attempted cyber attack targeting Toyota Australia in February. Researchers believed that Ocean Lotus (aka APT32), a Vietnamese cyber-espionage group, was responsible for the attack and information obtained from the Toyota Australia hack might have been used to access the central network in Japan.
